Waverly delegates cross-jurisdictional wetland reviews to Wright County
Summary
The council approved Resolution 2026-24 delegating Minnesota Wetland Conservation Act cross-jurisdictional Local Government Unit responsibilities to Wright County while retaining city responsibility for projects wholly inside city limits. Motion passed 5-0.
Engineer Sheila Krohse told the council that requiring each jurisdiction to perform separate wetland delineations for projects that cross county/city lines duplicates work and increases costs. The council approved Resolution 2026-24 delegating cross-jurisdictional Wetland Conservation Act Local Government Unit (LGU) responsibilities to Wright County; the city retains LGU responsibility for projects wholly within city limits. The motion passed 5-0.
Krohse said other cities in the county served by her firm are passing similar resolutions. The change is intended to streamline delineation for multi-jurisdictional projects and reduce duplication of effort and expense for applicants.
