Council hears report on community center heating problems; staff to obtain repairs

Public works staff told the council that the front furnace that serves the community center bathrooms has been unreliable and that a part replacement earlier in the year failed again. Staff described short cycling caused by return placement and suggested moving or modifying returns and ducting to improve temperature stability. "Now the furnace out in the front in the lobby that does the bathrooms, we've had problems with that ever since they put it in there," the public works staff said.
Council asked staff to contact the vendor for parts and to develop a short list of corrective actions and cost estimates. Staff also noted a separate thermostat/setting issue and said they will check controls and returns and report back with a recommendation and schedule for repairs.
