Project representative Hyman described the plan as an ADA-accessible boardwalk and ferry crossing that will include permanent and floating docks and a roughly 2,000-linear-foot elevated wooden boardwalk through wetlands to connect to Depot Road.
Hyman said the design includes a ferry crossing of about 300 feet and called the ferry both functional and an attraction, noting the proposed name "the Spirit" for branding. Council members asked about contractor experience and Hyman said references were checked and engineers provided positive feedback. The council moved to approve the bid award and the motion carried unanimously, with staff to proceed to contract negotiations.
