Council hears recommendation to continue on-call planning services with PEC and identifies city planner

"We retained contractually with PEC for planning and zoning coordinator, if you will. So our planning and zoning are planners, the city planner is Kyle Covey with PEC," the City manager said, noting staff had discussed PEC's philosophy and service model and that continuing the relationship could bring a different perspective and cost advantages on some projects.
Council members asked about timing and asked for additional information; staff recommended scheduling an in-person appearance by PEC to answer detailed questions about scope, deliverables, and pricing before the council commits to additional work.
Next steps: staff will invite PEC to present detailed scope and cost estimates for on-call services and planning tasks so the council can decide whether to proceed or table until January if members desire more information.
