Edwardsville’s council approved the purchase of a 2025 Ford F‑550 cab chassis through the Mid‑America cooperative (Shawnee Mission Ford) and associated plow and spreader equipment from American Equipment for a combined cost the city estimated at about $102,881.
Public Works supervisor Brian Hutchison explained the current truck failed during a recent snowstorm and staff put the replacement in the 2025 expenditure budget on a 10‑year replacement schedule. Hutchison said using the cooperative contract avoids the city’s need to issue separate specifications and bid packages. "The purchase of the F‑550 ... is basically off of the Johnson County cooperative, purchase or market, through Shawnee Mission Ford," he said. Council discussed storage, vendor options within Wyandotte County and trade‑in or auction via Purple Wave for the old unit.
Finance staff recommended a lease‑purchase structure to protect cash flow, with estimated annual payments of $34,000–$36,000 for three years rather than a single $108,000 outlay. Council moved and approved the purchase and financing approach on roll call.
