Council opens hearing on budget amendment to centralize technology spending, raise street fund cap

On streets, the City manager said staff originally targeted about $400,000 for special street maintenance but that emergency repairs (including work on 98th Street South) and other projects pushed expenditures higher; staff proposed adjusting the amendment target to $725,000 to avoid audit surprises.
The Clerk confirmed the special highway fund already holds the necessary cash and that the amendment is intended to set a maximum authorized amount, not to spend the full allocation immediately. The council agreed to open the public hearing and to follow the hearing with comment, closure, then motion and vote per the described order.
Next steps: the council opened the hearing, received public comment per the standard order described by staff, and then moved to close the hearing and take the related motion and roll-call vote later in the agenda.
