Mount Gilead Elementary to host Head Start 3-year-old classroom starting Aug. 10, county official says

Wade Almond told the board the county has partnered with Head Start to open a 3-year-old classroom at Mount Gilead Elementary School starting Aug. 10 and that 10 children are already enrolled. "We already have 10 of them enrolled ready to roll," he said.
Almond said the program has been in development for about two years with local school and Head Start staff, including Dr. Olivia Gibbons, and described it as the first Head Start site in Montgomery County intended as a pilot that could expand to other schools. Commissioners welcomed the program as a community and school benefit.
The county manager and school staff will monitor enrollment and logistics as the program begins in mid-August and update the board if the pilot expands.
