Board approves engineering scope for Malberry Grove/Mountain Hill realignment amid resident concerns

Harris County commissioners voted to accept an engineering proposal to realign roughly 1,000 linear feet of Mountain Hill Road north of Highway 315 to create a T intersection with the planned Malberry Grove Road and future roundabout.
County staff said the drawing (provided by ANR/American Engineers and Woodruff Company) will be used by contractors Carter & Sloop in coordination with GDOT/TIA plans for the roundabout; delays from state agencies and consultants could affect the project schedule. The board authorized the chair, county manager and county clerk to execute documents to accept the engineering scope.
Neighbors raised concerns that concessions negotiated with developers in 2007—including buffers, reduced commercial adjacency and protections around subdivisions—should be re-entered into the public record and considered during engineering. "Those particular concessions... are in the minutes of July 3rd, 2007," resident Dwight Langston said, asking that engineers be made aware of those historic agreements so they can be compared with new designs. County staff replied that tonight's vote accepted the engineering scope (not construction) and that engineers would be able to reconcile earlier concessions during design reviews.
