Warden reports lower average population from last year but medical contract spending exceeded cap

The Warden said the current population counted 605 people and compared May 2026 averages (648) with May 2025 (700). May 2026 commitments numbered 282 and releases were 277.
The Warden also highlighted medical and nutrition costs: PrimeCare medical spending exceeded a stated $300,000 cap by $412,215.58 in Year 4; cumulative payments for the first three years were reported as $753,163.48 (year 1), $569,733.39 (year 2) and $810,943.61 (year 3). Nutrition, Inc.'s cost per meal rose to $1.28 in May 2026 from $1.06 in May 2025. The Warden provided intake detox statistics and medication-assisted-treatment counts, and noted that 44% of inmates were on psychotropic medications.
