Board recognizes students and staff for regional and state honors

At the July board meeting, Jennifer Shirley led a lengthy recognition segment listing teams and individual accomplishments across Carroll County Schools.
Shirley asked the audience to "please help me in celebrating the following accomplishments," then named Bowden High School's Region 7 Single A Division 2 baseball champions, regional and state track and field winners, multiple Georgia Music Educators Association All-Star chorus and band members, and staff awards including a 3rd-place state recognition in a school nutrition category. The recognitions included named students (for example, Emma Phillips, Owen Wilkerson, and London Nimbo) and coaches (for example, David McKinnon and Jeremiah Yates).
Board members applauded repeatedly during the recognitions and the chair asked for a final round of applause for all honorees. The segment spanned multiple schools and both student athletic and music honors as well as staff teaching and nutrition awards.
