Portales staff say initial wastewater reuse phase could cost about $680,000

Pat Mitchel told the advisory group that engineers from CDM Smith are preparing a technical plan for the wastewater treatment plant and that the project can be split into phases, starting with an initial reuse component.
"The initial reuse, we're looking around 680,000, I believe, is what they estimated to get it going," Mitchel said. He said the department is speaking with finance about available funds and that, if state funding is approved, the project could move forward and other system updates would follow in later phases.
Staff said they would submit the technical memo to the appropriate state department once it is finalized and would continue to coordinate with finance on funding. No construction schedule or final funding commitment was adopted at the meeting.
