Councilors approved an increase of $25 to the city business-license fee, raising the amount after noting the long-ago original fee was 50 cents. The council also advanced amendments to the 2026 salary ordinance (ordinance 20 26-12), including consolidating two part-time positions into a single full-time position in a city department to meet new federal reporting and workload requirements.
“We raised it $25 to obtain a business license in the city,” Councilman (speaker 7) said during the business-license discussion. The council then voted to remove ordinance 20 26-14 from the agenda at a council member's request and proceeded with votes on salary and license items as amended.
