Kingsburg moves to pursue Prop 68 funding for Memorial Park as state opens application window

"It's essentially a state funded program ... creating new park spaces, expanding current spaces, or revitalizing existing spaces," Adam said, and added the application window is expected to open at the end of the summer though the state has not yet released a deadline. He said the state has invited Kingsburg to host one of the program's regional workshops, likely in September. Adam also provided the program's grant limits: a minimum award of $200,000 and a maximum of $8,500,000 per application.
Commission discussion focused on preparing for the application and on community engagement through workshops so citizens' priorities can be reflected in any proposal. Adam said the commission previously identified Memorial Park as the primary candidate and that staff will circulate details once the application opens. No formal application or budget commitment was made at the meeting; the commission discussed forming a small working group to help with outreach and application planning.
