Council advances several zoning and traffic ordinances; tables one third-reading ordinance until Aug. 4
Summary
The Jonesboro City Council moved multiple zoning and traffic ordinances to later readings and tabled Ordinance 26-018 (third reading) to Aug. 4 after a council motion. Items advanced include amendments to the stormwater manual, zoning changes on North Church and Browns Lane, and traffic pattern modifications near public schools.
At the July 21 meeting the council handled a group of development and traffic items: Ordinance 26-020 (amending Appendix 7 of the stormwater drainage design manual) was offered by title and moved to second reading; several zoning ordinances affecting properties at 2038 North Church Street, 1400 Southern Ridge Boulevard and 2911 Browns Lane were advanced toward third readings; and changes to special traffic patterns near Jonesboro public schools were also advanced.
On a separate third-reading matter, Ordinance 26-018 was tabled to August 4 after Councilmember Chris Gibson made the motion, noting new business developments had arisen that require more time. Gibson’s motion to table was seconded and carried by voice vote. No substantive debate was recorded on the individual zoning items during the meeting, and staff were directed to continue standard review processes and return the tabled ordinance on Aug. 4.
