Mayor Jeff Pugh read a letter from Janet Shines on behalf of StarBright Civic Collective thanking residents and town staff for support at a recent fundraiser and reporting that StarBright “raised more than a $100,000 for our town.” The letter listed uses such as first-aid training, drones, cameras, lighted crosswalks and funding a golf cart for beach operations, and thanked the town manager, commissioners and police for attending.
At public comment, StarBright board members and volunteers described ongoing community events and asked the commission to provide written rules and standards for what may appear in the town newsletter and civic-ready alerts to help volunteer groups coordinate outreach. Commissioners acknowledged the group’s contributions and staff noted the town is working on administrative processes for board appointments and community communications.
