Superintendent Lucas proposed adding a classified executive director lane to the approved salary schedule to attract qualified candidates from operations and human-resources backgrounds who may not hold educator certification. "The change does not increase compensation, but it does allow us, if approved, to recruit qualified leaders with relevant human resources, operations, or similar backgrounds who may not have an educational background," Lucas said.
Board members questioned how the additional lane would affect overall cabinet compensation and the budget. Lucas replied the change is intended to broaden the recruiting pool and noted the district is reviewing organizational structure and looking for efficiencies. The board approved the salary schedule amendment. Lucas also proposed renaming roles to "chief of human resources" and "chief of operations" as a recruitment strategy and to align with neighboring districts; the board approved those title changes as part of items 9—10 and 11.
