The City of Chadron council voted to approve a retail class C on- and off-sale liquor license for Mohawk Sports Bar LLC, which is planning a family-friendly sports bar at 950 West Highway 20.
Applicant Travis Muir told the council and the public that he and his wife, Rebecca, hope to open a sports bar offering breakfast, lunch and dinner with a focus on higher-end steaks and homemade pizza, an arcade room for children and competitive pricing. “We just thought it would be a good idea to open a sports bar up in town,” Muir said, adding that the business expects to hire roughly 35–36 part‑ and full‑time workers and hopes to begin soft openings and training within three weeks.
Council members asked about menu differences from existing establishments, staff levels and how the requested off‑sale privilege would be used for events such as college rodeos. Muir said the off‑sale option was sought to support outside events and catering opportunities. After the public hearing closed, the council passed Resolution 2026‑59 to approve the license on a unanimous roll call vote.
The council’s approval follows the public hearing process required under city procedures and means Mohawk Sports Bar LLC may proceed with licensing and local permitting. The mayor and staff thanked the applicants for attending and for the presentation.
