The council consented to mayoral appointments to the City Human Relations Commission on July 21. Resolution 51, introduced by Betsy Buckingham, named Rose Almeda, Christopher Hundley and Tynesha (Tanisha) Wilkes to terms through July 16, 2029.
Tanisha Wilkes addressed the council after the roll call, saying, "I will promise to serve with integrity in order to promote fairness and equity and serve as your community with everything I got." The council then administered the oath of office and asked the appointees to sign required documents. The measure passed by roll call.
Council members thanked the volunteers and encouraged other residents to apply for boards and commissions via yorkcity.org. No controversy or public opposition was recorded during the appointment vote.
