Timothy Edwards, executive director of the Susquehanna Area Regional Airport Authority, gave a brief operational update to the council on July 21.
Edwards said 2025 was the authority's largest year for passenger enplanements at 814,000 and that 2026 is roughly 10% ahead year‑to‑date. He noted four airlines serve Harrisburg International Airport for the region (American, Delta, United and Allegiant) and 18 nonstop destinations, including gateway hubs that connect travelers worldwide.
On cargo and capital investment, Edwards said the authority invested $64,000,000 in a ramp expansion and is working with a developer on a sortation facility that will allow three large aircraft to use the cargo ramp. He also outlined redevelopment planning for a roughly 64‑acre former Crawford Station with potential aviation maintenance, general‑aviation facilities and workforce development uses.
Edwards closed by previewing the authority's airshow calendar (Thunderbirds planned for July 2027) and invited council questions; none followed that required action by the council. The presentation was informational; no vote or formal council directive was taken.
