Trail maintenance underway, basketball courts finished; staff to study drinking fountain cost

Public works staff reported this year's trail maintenance focused on several targeted replacements: the easement trail from 55th into the upper fields of Brecky, the trail into Valley View Park from Ozark Avenue, and a section from 56th Street to Stagecoach Trail. "The contractor should probably be wrapping up with that project within the next 2 weeks," staff said, and added that general upkeep and standard maintenance would follow.
Staff also said the basketball courts were included and finished as part of the work. Commissioners raised the absence of a drinking fountain at Schwager Park; public works said connecting a drinking fountain to the main on 58th could be possible but might not be the best use of money, and estimated such a fountain could be "probably gonna be in the $10,000 range" while noting a permanent restroom/shelter with water is in the CIP as a longer-term option.
