Board approves 2026–27 technology plan, schedules hardware rotation

The Jenkins Independent Board of Education voted April 28 to approve the district’s 2026–27 technology plan, a 32-page document staff said carries over many prior initiatives and adds a device-replacement plan and security measures.
Technology staff described several operational priorities in the plan: keeping Chromebooks in classrooms rather than transporting them between rooms, repairing and cycling older switches and access points using E-rate funds, and rolling out multi-factor authentication and email protections to reduce phishing and malware risk. Staff said they are considering Microsoft Defender for endpoint security. "We're gonna be starting to cycle through some of our switches, some of our cables and things like that," the technology presenter said. The board moved, seconded and approved the plan by voice vote.
