Altamont administrator reports grants, facilities repairs, and community projects

City Administrator LeaAnn Myers provided an administrative update covering multiple items. She said she and Bridget Merchant attended the CCMFOA spring conference; the KMEA electric improvement schedule places Altamont on the list for this fall; Officer Timothy Ames graduated from the Kansas Law Enforcement Training Center’s 338th Basic Training Class and served as class president; and the city has solicited contractors for cleanup at 518 and 520 S Huston and continued outreach to owners of other condemned properties.
Myers reported the city donated $2,050 toward a mural at the Altamont Senior Citizens Center and that the muralist has begun work. Repairs at the T-ball field were completed with 4-State Fencing replacing the fence in front of both dugouts and two new 15-foot benches were installed. The Transportation Alternative (TA) Grant agreement was submitted to KDOT and Schwab Eaton will inspect the TA project site and submit a cost estimate. Russell Construction will give advance notice to relocate staff and equipment before City Office roof repairs start. Veteran's Memorial pavers have been delivered and Chauncey Poe is expected to lay them in May.
