After reviewing four bids for demolition of 518 and 520 S Huston, the Altamont City Council approved bid number 381 from W&W Backhoe and Trenching at the April 10 meeting. Bids reviewed included W&W Backhoe ($11,000); Billman’s Mobile Home Moving (with asbestos testing) ($15,000); B3 Construction ($17,000); and Heck & Wicker with options ranging from $30,443.47 to $34,893.47. Councilmember Lyle Sykes moved to approve bid 381 and Councilmember Tyler Julich seconded; the motion carried.
City Administrator Myers reported staff have contacted contractors for the cleanup and have notified owners and prospective owners of other properties (806 S Huston) that properties must be cleared by the end of 2025. The minutes indicate staff will follow up on 911 S Wells at the next meeting.
