The Altamont City Council on March 13 approved Ordinance 663, which raises the city's sewer rates to help cover costs for a planned sewer project. Councilmember Lyle Sykes moved for approval and Councilmember Tyler Julich seconded; the roll-call vote was Sellers — Aye, Julich — Yes, Sykes — Aye and the motion carried.
Council also received an outline of the sewer study presented to provide context for rate changes and project timing. Councilmember Sykes told colleagues the project needs to start as soon as possible and supported the rate increase to cover necessary work. The ordinance was adopted at the meeting and will be the basis for subsequent planning and procurement for the sewer project.
