Russell Springs council sets July 3 and July 6 as city holidays

The Russell Springs City Council on June 30 adopted Municipal Order 2026-04 to amend the city's 2026 holiday schedule so that Independence Day is observed on Friday, July 3, 2026, and Monday, July 6, 2026 is added as an additional city holiday. City Clerk Christopher Ramsey read the order, which specifies that city hall and noncentral municipal offices will be closed on those days while essential services such as police and utility operations will continue.
Mayor Mary Eddie Thomas commented in the meeting that "the city workers deserve a little time off," and the order notes employees required to work during those dates will be compensated consistent with city personnel policies and applicable law. A motion to adopt the municipal order was made, seconded, and passed on a unanimous recorded roll call. The order takes effect immediately upon adoption.
