The Russell Springs City Council adopted Ordinance 2026-02, the city's annual budget for fiscal 07/01/2026 through 06/30/2027, during a special called meeting on June 30. Mayor Mary Eddie Thomas, identified in the municipal order read during the meeting, presided; City Clerk Christopher Ramsey conducted the readings and roll calls. Clerk Christopher Ramsey read department-by-department figures and summarized projected revenues of $6,028,533, total appropriations of $5,615,300, and an expected general fund carryover of $413,233 at year-end.
The ordinance lists carryover and appropriation figures across funds including a utility fund carryover of $1,326,257 (projected revenues $8,571,826; appropriations $7,623,390), municipal road aid carryover $107,418, fire department carryover $117,110, ABC fund balances, forfeiture funds, development corporation funds, cemetery fund and water service maintenance figures. The clerk announced the second reading occurred June 30 with a publication date of July 9. A motion to adopt the ordinance was made, seconded, and passed on a unanimous recorded roll call vote.
