Spencer Peacock (CFR) explained the time-and-distance tab counts the number of providers by specialty per county and allows carriers to report telemedicine providers used to meet access requirements. John Armstrong (Aetna) asked whether a provider serving multiple counties should be counted for each county; Spencer said yes — count the provider for every county served.
Melissa asked how telemedicine-only providers should be represented; Brooke clarified that carriers may enter 'virtual' for telemedicine-only providers but must use the physical county for providers who also offer in-person services. Spencer said the division is still refining telemedicine definitions for reporting purposes.
