The council approved a zoning variance for the Caribou Bible Church property at 290 East First North after hearing from the applicant and fire department staff.
Applicant John Goody, who identified himself and provided an address, asked the council to follow the Planning & Zoning Commission recommendation to approve the variance. He noted the commission had recommended approval contingent on the fire chief's review of a minor pinch point near a southeast corner. Chief Squire told the council he had no major concerns about fire access, noting available access on the west and east and confirming the primary entrance remains on the northeast corner.
Councilmember motion and a second were followed by a verbal vote; the council recorded "motion passes." The council and staff encouraged the church to proceed with the project and thanked the applicant for attending the meeting.
