Regional transportation rep highlights walkability audit and federal funding opportunities

Oliver Scribe, representing Keto and the Southeast Regional Transportation Organization (RTPO), told the board his organization helped coordinate a recent walkability audit on the 259 Corridor that drew substantial public engagement. "The walkability was a huge success, like Adam said," he said, and described the audit as producing many community-driven ideas on improving safety and accessibility.
He explained the RTPO is federally funded and that the group's focus is to help communities translate state-level planning into on-the-ground projects such as intersection improvements, safety upgrades and alternative-transportation facilities. "We're gonna act as the liaisons between the state and the communities to help get those just the forms between everybody," he said, and proposed hosting a long-range transportation meeting locally to gather broader input.
