Regional transportation official invites Hochatown to host long-range planning meeting after successful walkability audit

Oliver Scribe, speaking for the Southeastern Regional Transportation Organization (RTPO) and KEDO, described the group's role in coordinating a 17-county long-range transportation plan and said the RTPO can help the town access federal funding and serve as a liaison to the state. "We're gonna perform the 1st long range transportation plan in South Pacific Home. It's gonna come to 17 counties," Scribe said, and he asked the town to consider hosting one of the meetings.
Scribe also recapped a recent AARP-sponsored walkability audit along the 259 corridor that drew strong public participation. He said the RTPO can assist with grant administration for hiking, biking and off-road recreation projects and offered technical support for local roadway and intersection safety improvements. Trustees asked for clarification on the RTPO acronym and expressed interest in more local engagement on walking and bicycling infrastructure.
