Resident urges town to consider conservation easement for two vacant seawall lots

"He wanted to form a not-for-profit entity to purchase them and ask for a conservation easement," the resident said, warning that putting the parcels under an easement could take them off the tax rolls and limit public access. The speaker suggested the town consider buying the adjacent little lot already under public control to expand a natural walking area and asked whether planning and zoning or the commission should take the lead.
Commissioners thanked the resident for raising the idea and noted that any proposal to remove platted lots from the tax rolls is a policy question. Chair Ferber and other members said town staff and planning representatives typically bring such concepts forward for commission consideration, and the topic could return for follow-up.
