Council approves motions ranging from property decisions to personnel recruitment
Summary

The Oronoco City Council took a series of formal actions on July 21. Highlights include:
- Reversal of the June 16 injunction direction regarding the Mary Nash property (motion passed by voice vote). Chair (speaker 4) moved to reverse the council action to seek an injunction for removal of a shed and the motion passed.
- Denial of an ERC unemployment benefit appeal (voice vote).
- Adoption of Ordinance 2026‑O4 establishing a public works chapter in city code (voice vote).
- Approval of a temporary on‑sale liquor license for Downtown Oracle Goldrush and a gathering permit for Fox and Fern Gramá opening days (voice votes).
- Authorization to sell surplus public works attachments and vehicles and to pursue replacement options; approval to purchase a 2026 mower with plans to sell the older unit to offset cost.
- Acceptance of two fire department grants: 200 DripDrop electrolyte packets and an extractor/gear dryer grant from the state fire marshal to speed gear washing; the council also approved a fire applicant, Finn Cassidy.
- Approval of a one‑year extension for a grading CUP while the developer secures a new architect.
- ERC recommendation approved to post and recruit for a city clerk position; council discussed qualifications and potential recruitment vendors.
Most votes were voice votes recorded as ayes; the meeting included discussion of budget impacts and a request for staff to return budget numbers at the August meeting.
