Willard awarded federal funds for 750 North crossing; local match now about $10,008

City planner Maddie updated the council that Willard has been awarded federal/regional funds for a crossing on 750 North at 200 West as part of the Hop Trail. The project was originally scored at about $85,000 but regional partners and a recent estimate put the total closer to $250,000; Maddie said the city’s required local match rose from about $6,000 to just under $11,000 (she cited a figure of about $10,008.20).
“...we were awarded 85,000 initially. I’ve been working with Ben at WFRC, and they have estimated that project to be now closer to $250,000,” Maddie said. She told council TAC/Transcom approved additional funds and that the request will move to the next committee for approval in April. Maddie said Willard’s match is expected to be budgeted next year, likely from the streets fund.
Maddie described the scope as more than paint and flashing beacons: the crossing will include new pathways, curbing, gutter and flashing beacons. She invited councilmembers to participate in the planning process and noted coordination with UDOT and other agencies will be part of the next steps.
