Trustees voted to approve Resolution 40‑R‑2026, authorizing an art fabrication and installation agreement for the Mead Gateway at County Road 34 and I‑25 with artist Karen Yanks. Trustee Crane said he pulled the item so constituents could ask why the project was prioritized and why funds were committed to artwork rather than other amenities, and he said several residents asked “why do we need to spend that much money?”
During public comment, multiple residents said they were not aware of the shortlist or seen alternate proposals, questioned the selection process and raised concerns about costs and competing town needs such as park facilities. A resident said the board’s 5‑2 vote reflected trustees’ views but not broad resident input. The resolution passed on roll call.
