Officer Cooper Kramblett presented a Mead Police Department Lifesaving Award to 9‑year‑old Lonnie for pulling his 2½‑year‑old sister Caitlin from a near‑drowning and keeping her calm until first responders arrived. Cooper told the board that Lonnie’s “instant decisive actions directly saved Caitlin's life” and praised the child’s calm demeanour after the rescue.
Cooper introduced the Mountain View and Frederick Fire/EMS crews and the two officers who responded, and he described the family moment: after the rescue Lonnie quietly changed into an orange Denver Broncos shirt and shook the officer’s hand. Cooper said the Broncos organization had reached out and “they want to meet you in person” and invited Lonnie and his family to a day at training camp. Mayor Colleen Whitlow and trustees applauded the family and thanked first responders for their work.
