Council Member Mink introduced expedited Bill 31‑25 to align local practice with new state law while extending tenant notice from six to 14 days before a sheriff‑executed eviction. She said the additional notice would give tenants time to make plans and allow county and nonprofit partners to provide assistance. "By providing these two weeks' notice, this will allow, countywide, residents that time to prepare so we can extend those benefits to everyone," Mink said.
The bill was introduced with co‑sponsors from multiple council members and a public hearing was scheduled for Oct. 28, 2025 at 1:30 p.m. Mink said pilot efforts and improved communications between the sheriff's office and HHS had helped in her district, and she expects the countywide extension would expand those benefits.
