"We tested almost, like, 95 to 97% in each 9th, 10th, and 11th grade," Barker said, stressing the importance of high participation to keep data valid for GSA/SAT projections.
Barker also called attention to chronic absenteeism as a continuing barrier to higher achievement: she reported a districtwide chronic absenteeism rate of 26.52% and said high schools tend to be worse (with seniors among the highest). The superintendent described targeted SAT prep, cross‑curricular collaboration with CTE instructors and efforts to identify 'bubble' students within 20 points of benchmarks as near‑term strategies to raise proficiency prior to state testing.
