Assistant Chief Miller recommended Quentin Schwartie for the School Resource Officer (SRO) role and described the department’s screening process. "We tested 13 of them," Miller said, listing physical, written and supervisor interviews and noting polygraph testing of top candidates. "The candidate I'm recommending tonight is 27 years old. He's an LHS graduate...and he's been an LPD reserve since March 2025."
Board members asked whether the candidate had completed the police academy. Miller said he had not and that one candidate currently at the academy has about four weeks remaining and another would likely attend in January. After brief discussion, a motion to accept the assistant chief’s recommendation was made by Tommy and seconded by Brett; the board voted in favor. The recommendation directs staff to proceed with hiring steps for Quentin Schwartie as the SRO.
