The town manager told the board that the Duxbury Affordable Housing Trust is scheduled to close on the purchase of 6 Kingstowne Way on Aug. 4, 2026, for a purchase price of $462,500 plus settlement fees, funded from available trust money. The 24.8-acre parcel, classified under Chapter 61A agricultural use, includes cranberry bogs, residual land and some undevelopable acreage; the town previously exercised its statutory right of first refusal in 2021 and prevailed in litigation that the Supreme Judicial Court affirmed on June 12, 2026.
The manager said the trust will present development plans to the Select Board at a future meeting; board members reiterated that the trust's mission is to build affordable housing for Duxbury residents and asked staff and trustees to review prior discussions of density and use before the presentation.
