Grant coordinator Angie Olsen told council the Creative District initially qualified to receive four sculptures through the statewide program but was able to secure ten pieces for 2026. Olsen said the project is funded by development dollars the district received from the Nebraska Arts Council and that staff would sign individual artist contracts to finalize installations in May 2026.
Council members expressed enthusiasm for the public art project and asked procedural questions about contracts and potential swaps if an artwork is sold before installation. A motion to authorize the mayor to sign artist contracts (Resolution 2026‑014) passed 7–0.
