Resident presses council over unpaid sewer bills, says taxpayers bore $2 million cost

"There's no reason why that should not have been billed every single year," Alan said, adding that unpaid revenues contributed to higher taxes and delayed projects including a CSX pedestrian footbridge.
Township finance staff (Isa) later responded that the 2022 sewer billing was mailed May 4 and that roughly 50% of the receivable has been collected; outstanding balances remain with larger commercial accounts and staff are working with an outside engineer to finalize 2023 data. Isa said she has fielded a dozen inquiries about the bill and that interest penalties are governed by statute but staff exercise discretion when non-receipt is demonstrated.
