Summer construction and solar work progress; transportation center likely not ready before school starts

Mr. Martin reviewed summer work across the district, listing school-by-school progress and recent spending. He reported that the Briergate solar project needs "two more connections to do from the inverters to the main panels and one more shutdown from KMED and then that'll be up and running" and that Firegate received new signage, parking-lot striping, and playground mulch. Deer Path was described as the largest project and about 80% complete with classrooms prioritized so furniture can be returned before staff return. Mr. Martin said Oak Null and Three Oaks are nearly complete and that the gym sound system at Three Oaks was installed for less than the allowance.
Board members asked about site safety (window panels near playgrounds) and whether weekend work increases cost; staff said weekend work was included in the contract to meet schedules and should save time and money in the aggregate. Concerning the new transportation garage, Mr. Martin said it is not expected to be ready before school starts and that, if needed, transportation can operate temporarily from existing facilities or park buses at Kerry Jr. until the new site is brought fully online.
