The Committee member recounted an incident "with the sheriff's department, DNR, state police" near the Patuxent River involving autistic children and thanked responders for finding the child. "It's kinda a little unnerving when you see some police officers...just walking through your yard, walking down to the water," the speaker said, recalling the moment neighbors wondered what was happening.
The speaker also recalled a past case in the neighborhood of an autistic child falling through ice and another incident where a child fell off a pier; both were described as rescues that ended successfully in at least one instance and as worse scenarios in another. The Committee member used the examples to urge caregivers: "come on, mom and dad. Keep an eye or whoever who's keeping an eye on these kids."
