Daniels County commissioners approved two personnel items at their July 20 meeting: a longevity schedule and an across-the-board hourly pay increase for non-elected staff. The longevity proposal specifies an additional $0.50 for every five years of service (with separation restarting the clock) and is merit-recommended by supervisors; the board approved the policy.
Separately, a motion to grant an $0.80-per-hour increase to eligible non-elected employees passed by voice vote. Commissioners discussed retroactive application timing, anniversary-date payout logistics and exceptions (the sheriff’s office and deputies were excluded from the longevity schedule). "So those are the facts to move forward on," a commissioner said when presenting the longevity schedule and the raise motion.
Staff will implement updated payroll schedules and ensure start/re-hire dates are reconciled so longevity payouts align with policy.
