City manager: council to consider increasing planning and permitting fees in November

Rick Oldwell told the committee that the city will present a resolution to the council in November proposing increases to planning, permitting and construction fees that have not been updated since 2019. "There is a resolution on the November council agenda to increase our planning and building and permitting and construction fees," Oldwell said, adding that the goal is to better align fees with the contracted cost of planners and engineers.
Oldwell said the city has been effectively subsidizing planning and permitting work because it contracts out planning and engineering and has charged below‑market fees. The proposed fee changes are intended to recover more of those costs and reduce pressure on the general fund; the proposal will appear on the council agenda for formal consideration.
