District presents draft strategic plan priorities after year-long community process

Administrators presented the district’s draft strategic plan, which grew from a year-long process including a community survey (242 responses) and facilitated focus groups. The facilitator, Dr. Carlin from KASB, led the process and the administration identified four priority areas for focus: student success, exceptional staff, communication/culture/community, and facilities and grounds.
Dr. Myers said the board will not take action tonight but will be asked to review and prioritize one or two strategies in each area in upcoming meetings; staff will return next month with an action-ready draft and administrative recommendations. The board and administration emphasized that priorities will be phased to avoid overload and that the board ultimately sets strategic priorities.
