Council adopts ordinance renewing WesBanco letter of credit for workers' compensation compliance

The council adopted an ordinance authorizing renewal of letter of credit number 2001-525, in an amount not to exceed $750,000, issued by WesBanco Bank to satisfy a portion of the self-insured security and insurance requirements of the West Virginia Workers' Compensation Act for fiscal year 2026-2027. The city clerk read the ordinance by title during a public hearing; no members of the public spoke either in favor or opposition and the hearing was closed.
Council then moved and seconded approval of the ordinance. After no discussion, the city clerk conducted a roll call vote; Councilmembers Wade, Rice, Newsome, Sole, McDaniel, Horton, Webber and Mayor Evan B. Walker all voted "yes" and the ordinance was adopted. The item was presented and decided on the consent/regular agenda with no amendments.
