Council narrows REO zone, adopts ordinance removing warehouse uses; clarifies industrial allowances

The Township Council adopted two zoning ordinances on second reading addressing warehouse uses. ORD1 amends the REO-2/REO-4/REO-5 sections to remove warehouse uses from REO districts; Attorney Elissa Grodd Schragger explained the change during the public hearing and said warehouses are being removed from the REO zone. Councilmember Charles Whalen asked whether a pharmaceutical company could still include a warehouse in a Research & Development zone and was advised the Planning & Zoning Board would handle site‑specific questions.
ORD2 clarifies that existing code already allows warehouses in Manufacturing and Industrial districts; the ordinance formalizes that language. Whalen raised legal-notice and development-risk questions tied to a parcel on Yardville–Hamilton Square Road; resident Janice Glonek asked about the specific land locations affected. Both ordinances were adopted on second reading; ORD1 and ORD2 carried with recorded yea votes by Councilmembers Carabelli, Tighe, Phillips and Papero and a recorded nay vote by Whalen on ORD1 (Whalen also recorded a nay on ORD2).
