Hamilton Council adopts 2026 municipal budget after months of tight review

Hamilton Township Council on May 5 adopted the Calendar Year 2026 municipal budget following a series of amendments and lengthy budget workshops. Council President Pasquale "Pat" Papero said the budget season was difficult due to "increased healthcare costs, inflation, and gasoline prices," and members credited staff for extensive preparatory work.
Council approved amendments that increased the Total Amount to be Raised by Taxes and adjusted general appropriations. The minutes record specific changes including a $115,000 increase to Fire Department salaries and a $200,000 increase to utility and other expenses; the overall Total General Appropriations moved by $350,631.26 in the adopted amendment. Councilmember Richard Tighe said "all of my questions were answered during the budget workshops," and members publicly thanked Finance staff, directors, and the Clerk's Office for their work. The capital budget amendments included adjustments to Technology and Service and Vehicles & Equipment lines in the six-year program.
The Council voted unanimously to adopt Resolution RES4 to finalize the 2026 budget following recorded votes on RES2 (amendment) and RES3 (capital plan). The adopted budget documents and ordinance codifications were noted to be available through the Township's ecode360 links.
