The Select Board voted July 20 to provide additional standardized recycling carts to Veazey (VZ) Memorial Park to ensure continued recycling service for the site’s residents and rental events. Conservation volunteers and a park representative described gaps when the town switched haulers and explained that standardized 95‑gallon carts are required for pickup.
Jan Dempsey, a park volunteer, said the park has long had recycling pickup and asked the town to ensure both residences and the function hall have appropriate town‑issued carts. The town administrator clarified current inventory and confirmed two 95‑gallon carts had been delivered for the residential units; the board approved adding two 95‑gallon carts for the event space, with the condition that the event carts be kept inside between uses to reduce the risk of public dumping. The motion passed unanimously.
Board members noted the importance of standardizing cart sizes so the contractor’s pickups are accepted and of monitoring potential commercial misuse at town drop‑off sites. The town will coordinate delivery and advise the conservation commission about storage and event procedures.
